Fostering the next generation of innovators: Supporting science in our schools towards a sustainable future

Science Fair Students are tomorrows leaders in the Circular Economy

Recently, our Development Manager had the privilege of joining the team of judges at the North Harbour Science Fair. It was a day filled with a genuine passion for science & enthusiastic young learner scientists.

Science Fair encourages students to explore their interests in science, & to gain understanding & practice in scientific methods & communicating scientific observations & data.

Events like these highlight the importance of nurturing young scientists who will undoubtedly contribute to New Zealand’s future, especially in the critical areas of sustainability and the circular economy.

One of the most rewarding aspects of judging the science fair is engaging with students during their interviews about their science project. Their enthusiasm, and their ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and confidently was impressive. Talking to these students reaffirmed the importance of encouraging young people to pursue their curiosity and interest in science.

Encouraging tomorrow’s scientists today

The Year 7 & 8 Intermediate students participating in this science fair are already keenly aware of the increasing impact of weather events & environmental challenges. This was evident in their ‘why’ in their choice of projects, & their observations of their local environment & solution-based investigations.

With the increasing challenges posed by climate change, resource depletion, and waste management, it is more important than ever that our next generation are equipped with the knowledge and skills to consider & be part of development of sustainable solutions. The projects on display reflected the student’s passion for solving real-world problems.

STEM Education: Building blocks for a sustainable future

Encouraging & fostering the next generation of New Zealanders to explore their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), particularly in the context of environmental sustainability, is crucial for NZ’s future. As we look forward, today’s young learners who study and excel in STEM will be instrumental in shaping policy, industries, & businesses to align with sustainability and a greener economy.

The impact of enthusiastic students for tomorrow’s circular economy

For our company, which champions reuse as a key component of the circular economy, our mission & sustainability goals are towards a greener future for New Zealand & future generations.  Ideas generated by today’s students tomorrow will become the innovations and advancements needed to achieve a more sustainable future.

Encouraging young minds to explore science, particularly in the context of environmental sustainability, is crucial for our nation’s future. Aotearoa’s future depends on it.
